In today’s special blog-mas edition – Holiday Olive Oil Cake
This is a super simple cake recipe that is guaranteed to impress all of your dinner party guests this season. This holiday olive oil cake is moist, flavourful and the best part, it keeps way longer than traditional cakes do, because it won’t dry out as quickly. There are many famous versions of this cake, but this recipe, in particular, I came across while scrolling my TikTok feed (what else is new) I’m going to make mine with a mixture of orange and lemon zest, for a little citrus twist!
Try it out for yourself and let me know what you think in the comments below.

History of Olive Oil Cake
The result of ancient tradition and tasty cuisine, desserts made with extra virgin olive oil have always been a part of the Italian table.
peasant heritage?
There are those who use it to replace butter, for reasons of intolerance or choice, or to make classic recipes a little lighter. So in order to find these recipes we can look to the past, from a time when olive oil was the absolute protagonist. Especially in biscuits and dry sweets, which were typical of the peasant culture of Central and Southern Italy. In fact, an invaluable ingredient such as extra virgin olive oil was never wasted, focusing on alternative preparations.
Substituting butter with olive oil
Not a substitute but rather the main ingredient, and the key to a tasty, fluffy cake, capable of keeping longer than those with butter. Olive oil cake has been a famous dessert staple in European countries and even top-notch restaurants in New York City.
